Governor Jim Doyle made the following statement regarding the passage of an emergency energy proposal that he outlined in his State of the State address to help Wisconsin residents who do not qualify for federal heating assistance. (www.wisgov.state.wi.us)

Governor Doyle is still on the right track as far as helping people with this new agreement. Wisconsin cam get very cold in the winter and for people to be without heat is just not right. The only thing that is upsetting is the fact that he has been governor for a while and he is just doing something about the heat now. If Governor Doyle keeps on helping people through out the election, he will have no problem getting reelected, especially as long as he doesn't do anything stupid.

Governor Doyle Announces $250,000 Grant to Fight Methamphetamine Abuse in Northwestern Wisconsin

MENOMONIE – Governor Jim Doyle today announced a $250,000 grant to combat methamphetamine abuse in Northwestern Wisconsin. The grant will be used by 12 counties and one Indian tribe to develop prevention and treatment techniques for methamphetamine users. Governor Doyle made the announcement as part of his "Capital for the Day" tour of Dunn and Chippewa Counties (www.wisgov.state..wi.us/).

As stated in the information from Wisconsin's Governor Jim Doyle web site, Doyle announced a grant for methamphetamine abuse. Now with all of the community oriented issues that Governor Doyle has been working on, some people are going to say that he is just doing all of this just to boost hisratingg for re-election for Governor. This assumption may be correct, but Governor Doyle seems like a decent person, who isn't just looking for personal gain, Doyle really seems to care about the community. Now granted that helping the community will look good if you are trying to get re-elected, but seeing that he is theincumbentt, he is looked at as the frontrunner for the election anyway. Getting back to the grant, it is good to see that someone with political power is still trying to help people who have drug problems, instead of brushing then off for someone else to deal with.

Higher Education

Statement of Governor Doyle Regarding Legislation Passed to Make Higher Education More Affordable

Governor Jim Doyle today released the following statement on Senate Bill 481, which raises the maximum Wisconsin Higher Education Grant (WHEG) for University of Wisconsin System students: “I am pleased that my proposal to raise the maximum UW-WHEG grant from $2500 to $3000 is on its way to my desk. This bill will help make college more affordable for Wisconsin students with the greatest financial need (www.wisgov.state.wi.us/).

As stated the above information is from Gov. Jim Doyle's web site. Now even though I don't live in Wisconsin, I am glad to see that the governor is trying to help out college kids. Being a college student myself, I would gladly accept any money that would help pay for school. Even though $2500 to $3000 may not seem like much to some people, it is enough money to cover a full year at the school I'm currently attending, and I'm sure it could due the same for some of the students in Wisconsin. Also this will helpwith lookin for re-election, because it shows he cares about the future of the state.

This blog will be following Jim Doyle in his campaign for re-election as Wisconsin Governor
